Position Summary

Under limited supervision, provides technical support in the areas of analysis, verification, measurement support, equipment characteristics, prototyping, and at sea installation.

The candidate will be part of a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center to the Ranges, Engineering & Analysis Department (Code 70).  Code 70's programs, ranges, and facilities encompass a broad spectrum of research, analysis, development, integration, installation, test, system and safety engineering, engineering and evaluation support for Undersea Warfare Systems (UWS).


  • Performs engineering computations, manually or through the use of automated analysis programs (e.g., propagation, intermodulation, and frequency assignment).
  • Performs calculations using formulas or concepts of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or statistics.
  • Collects technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g., technical manuals and internal and external reports), automated files, and other staff.
  • Determines and interprets equipment characteristics data, performs necessary analysis, and transcribes to required formats.
  • Assists engineers in moderately technical aspects of project work.
  • Assists in installation planning and staging for at sea deployment of undersea systems.
  • Acquires a working knowledge of the organization's databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
  • Designs and develops engineering sketches, drawings, graphs, slides, and charts for preliminary or final reports or briefings.
  • Assists in the training of less experienced staff.
  • Assists in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
  • As required, verbally presents information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
  • Complies with security procedures in the performance of duties.


Generalized experience: A minimum of eight (8) years full-time hands-on technical experience within last 15 years in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of electrical/electronic systems/equipment incorporated in Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems.

Specialized experience: A minimum of four (4) years full-time engineering experience with in the last 10 years in Combat systems, ASW,USW,MIW, and or C4I. Qualifications shall include the ability to act in an independent position, while performing engineering support services such as:

(1) Engineering Change Installations
(2) Technical Assists
(3) Systems Certification
(4) INSURV's
(5) Material Condition Assessments
(6) Systems Installations

Excellent mechanical prototyping skills.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Candidate must be eligible for immediate upgrade to Secret clearance upon employment.
