Job Description

Alion is looking for an experienced Facility Manager to maintain its Dayton facilities. The ideal candidate possesses mid-level working experience in functional areas such as facility and property management. The individual will be responsible for the opening, closing and daily management/maintenance of two defense contractor facilities. The applicant must have a working knowledge and experience applicable to the responsibilities listed below.

  • Strong knowledge of the practices, procedures, and policies involved in facilities management.
  • General maintenance and other facilities functions to include routine preventive maintenance. Manages facilities functions including task coordination with outside contractors’, interface to upper management and building tenants, preparation of cost estimates, layouts and contracts for construction. Supervises any and all work being performed on or in the facility.
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness and accountability of all furniture and equipment to include all IT devices and systems.
  • Development of organizational policies and procedures relevant to the facilities department to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Supervision of facilities personnel to ensure the efficient operation of facilities functions.
  • Provides advice and assistance to management in connection with facility management and security matters. Proactively identifies and apprises management of developments, problems and/or general status of facility operations. Supports financial review of facility expenditures and allocation of facility costs, etc. Manages facility operations within allowable budgets.
  • Responsible for overseeing cleared facility process and construction/maintenance of cleared facilities up to and including SCIF’s.
  • In coordination with the Facility Security officer, assists in managing facility security to include policy review, security escorting, and day to day Security activities. Knowledge of procedures in safeguarding and accountability of all classified materials. Knowledge of and ability to participate in security self-assessments.
  • May be required to travel locally for facility maintenance activities.
  • May operate manual or semi-automatic power tools in support of facility operations.
  • Assists in authoring and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Emergency Action Plans (EAP).
  • Knowledge of critical infrastructure (i.e.; alarm systems, access control systems, fire alarms, etc.) and the ability to interface with vendors that provide these services.
  • Hosts government inspectors for inspections as needed.
  • Primary interface with Corporate and regulatory representatives ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations regarding all Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) matters.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of directly related experience in facility management and operation. Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years applicable work experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft and other relevant applications.
  • Demonstrated effective supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of the practices, policies and procedures involved in facilities management.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, practices and procedures of industrial machine tools a plus.
  • Experience working in facilities with classified environments is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
