Job Description

Position Summary

The Facilities Manager manages the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities.


  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Directs office moves, general maintenance, and other facilities functions, including preparing cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and requisitions.
  • Manages facilities functions, including task coordination, vendor contract review, maintenance, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with company and government regulations related to safety, environmental issues, and/or recycling efforts.
  • Develops organizational policies and procedures relevant to the facilities department to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Performs financial review of the department, including expenditures, allocation of facility costs, rent approval, etc.
  • Responds to questions and problems related to facilities.
  • Maintains corporate leases including approval coordination, lease-holder contracts, summaries, etc.
  • Serves as point of contact for corporate insurance, including responding to questions, maintaining certificates of insurance and completing applications and qualification information claims.
  • Coordinates building space allocation, layout and communication.
  • Selects, develops, evaluates and supervises facilities personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • May provide heavy industrial equipment support through the use of machine tools.
  • May operate manual or semi-automatic power tools in support of facility operations.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelors degree in a STEM or management relaated field. In some cases, education may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted  for specially recognized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technologiy or labor market. shortages as reflected by market survey data. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Seven (7) years relevant training and asset management experience
  • Demonstrated effective supervisory skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures involved in facilities management.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, practices and procedures of industrial machine tools a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and experience operating power tools a plus.
  • A Secret clearance is required for this position.
