Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

Alion is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (FA) in support of the Distributed Simulation Group (DSG).  The FA is responsible for supporting the Finance Director and Group Operational Management in the Group’s budget, plan and forecast development and management.  The FA provides financial analysis and financial reporting to accurately reflect the financial position of the Group managed and to assist in the achievement of financial results.  The FA serves in this key role by applying financial insight in performing projections and analysis of results. The FA interacts with all levels of management and staff within the Group, and other support organizations necessary to resolve problems and provide accurate, timely, user-friendly reports on program and project status. The FA suggests changes to processes and procedures to improve quality, efficiency, and internal and external customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Efficiently and effectively support the development of financial plans and forecasts that are accurate, achievable, and align with the business’s financial and strategic objectives.

Develop and deliver timely financial analytics.  Develop, analyze and report metrics to monitor financial performance against plans and forecasts.

Provide Group management with financial analysis and reporting to ensure costs are controlled and profits are maximized.

Provide meaningful, actionable insights, advice and recommendations on the historic and future financial performance.  Identify financial risks and opportunities and advise on the path forward to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities.

Support the development of the Group's indirect budgets and financial plans in support of indirect rate development and maintenance. Monitor adherence to approved budget and institutes corrective actions where required.

Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as DAR/FAR, other government regulations, GAAP, SOX

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related and experience in a government contracting environment.

Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

     Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of the practices, procedures, and processes of financial management and budget development.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley, Federal Regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS) and all company policies and procedures as they relate to contract performance and financials.

Expert knowledge of MS Excel

Experience with Financial toolsets: JAMIS, SAP, Hyperion

Takes initiative, is reliable, and completes tasking accurately and on schedule.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Strong communication/interpersonal skills
