Responsibilities/Qualification

 

MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), an Alion Company is searching for a qualified FPGA Engineer in Huntsville, AL. This effort includes direct functional evaluation of hardware as well as contributing to the investigation, research, and development of new methods and techniques for evaluation, analysis, and verification of FPGA and ASIC digital designs. Many innovative solutions applying to DoD mission critical problems will be researched, developed, and deployed. The candidate will need extensive FPGA and/or ASIC design and verification experience as a basis. Ideally the candidate will also have experience in hardware reverse engineering or extensive gate-level design debug expertise.

Education and Experience:

Position requires a BS degree in engineering (EE, AE, ME, CompE) and 5+ years of experience in FPGA and/or ASIC design and verification. Can substitute a master's degree in Engineering for 2 years of experience, or a PhD for 4 years.

Candidate must have experience in offensive systems exploitation, analysis, characterization, databasing, information dissemination, modeling, and/or simulation.

•       Experience supporting an exploitation of electronic components/subsystems to determine the function and interaction of sensors, guidance components and computers and their associated software, processing units and memory

•       Experience implementing computationally intensive signal-processing algorithms in FPGAs, DSPs, and/or GPUs (preferred)

•       Competency with Verilog or VHDL

•       Familiarity with industry standard EDA tools (i.e. synthesis, P&R, simulation, etc.)

•       Experience supporting the extraction and analysis of software.

•       Experience supporting the development of flow diagrams, block diagrams and circuit schematics to describe component function and operation.

•       Ability to prepare technical reports and briefings

•       Strong interpersonal skills to support interaction with both Government and contractor personnel

Domain knowledge in one or more of the following areas is not required but highly beneficial:

•       Hardware Domain Knowledge (RF, EW, RADAR, etc.)

•       Embedded systems experience

•       Aerospace electronics

•       Cybersecurity

•       PCB design

•       Bench-top debug/testing experience

•       Failure Analysis/Device Physics

•       Guidance and Navigation

•       Communications Systems

Ability to research a problem, engineer solutions, and work as a part of a fast paced team is required. This position requires at least an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DOD TS/SCI Security Clearance
