Alion Science is seeking a Senior-level Subject Matter Expert to join our successful and dynamic team. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the National Systems for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG).The candidate must possess a TS/SCI clearance with a CounterIntelligence Polygraph.

The idea candiate will work as a consulting team member or an individual consultant providing objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in, but not limited to, supporting projects related to the individual's subject matter expertise.  These senior employees are considered experts in a functional domain (e.g., large scale enterprise solutions, acquisition, industry, client, finance, organizational development, etc.) with a number of years of experience. SMEs prepare and deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, commercial clients and government representatives. Assures the proper use of current or requested programming, testing and documentation techniques. Produces and/or reviews documentation and reports reflecting knowledge of areas as identified in the statement of work.  Generally employees assigned to this job are very senior level individual contributors. Some of the key attributes for success in this role are listed below:

  • SME must have the depth of knowledge and breadth of experience with the National System for Geospatial-intelligence (NSG) mission.
  • SME must have knowledge of NGA IT systems, infrastructure, high availability applications, and their interdependencies.
  • SME must have demonstrated experience with one or more of NGA’s development lifecycle models including Waterfall, Agile Safe and DevSecOps. 
  • SME must be able to assess strategic plans, programs, and architectures.
  • SME should have program management experience and be able to provide expert level schedule and technical analyses and recommendations.
  • SME must be able to facilitate community services adoption and consultation across the IC/DoD and partners in cross functional forums. 

Education and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems and 9-13 years of related experience


Master of Science Degree and 7-11 years of related experience


Security Clearance: TS/SCI w/Poly
