Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary:

Join our Annapolis Junction team of geospatial analysis experts in an agile environment as they develop groundbreaking geospatial mapping capabilities through ongoing projects. Work conducted in this role will produce real world results, and our matrixed staffing approach will allow you to gain valuable experience on a wide range of tools, projects, and tasks. Duties and Responsibilities:

Support geospatial analysis team in locating, collecting, analyzing, processing, and storing geospatial data.  

Perform terrain database design and development tasks, include data quality control

Support modeling and simulation analyses.   

Conduct technical writing and documentation tasks.

Interface with stakeholders and strategic partners.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Two or more years of directly relevant experience.  

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.

Educational requirement may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience. Experience requirement may be adjusted for candidate with strong educational background or uniquely applicable experience.

Membership in American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) desired but not required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Working knowledge of ESRI products (ARCGIS desktop, ARCGIS online, QGIS, Portal, Geodatabases, etc). 

Strong analysis and problem-solving capabilities. 

Knowledge of RDBMS and RDBMS tools, such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL (PostGIS), Excel, etc.

Knowledge of radio frequency propagation and clutter modeling, or willingness and ability to learn.  

Excellent customer and organizational level communication, including presentation and interpersonal skills.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.

Under general supervision, performs analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of moderately complex software application programs in support of distinct product hardware or technical service lines of business.

Defines specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.

Performs all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.

Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.

Participates in the analysis and development of test plans.  Tests assigned components and units, provides test results and recommends corrections.

Identifies and directs resolution of moderately complex hardware/software interface issues or other technical problems.

Researches and develops prospective applications and products and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.

Authors or assists in the writing and/or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.

Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate software concepts effectively.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development.

Experience with software development tools and programming languages.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
