Job Description



Responsibilities/Qualification

Provides support to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific (SSC PAC) Enterprise Training Activity (SETA) customer. Under general supervision, uses various types of graphics software, technical and artistic skills to design and develop electronic graphics and illustrations for use in technical and marketing materials, publications, internet websites and multimedia presentations and other deliverables.  Interacts with customers to determine needs and ensures satisfaction with the delivered product.

 Duties and Responsibilities

** Applicant must hold an active Secret clearance **

Develops and produces electronic designs for printed materials, internet websites, multimedia presentations, marketing materials and packaging to enhance product image.

Uses a variety of software applications to create, update or maintain technical materials, brochures, invitations, logos, stationery, presentations, websites, display items and other graphic material.

Conceives, designs, lays out, and coordinates editorial illustrations and creative artwork.  Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information.

Engages the elements of photography, typography, graphic layout, color, style, etc. to deliver the intended message.

Determines style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements.

Formulates concept and renders illustration and detail from models, sketches, memory, written or verbal instructions, and imagination.

Interacts with customers to determine needs and follows assigned projects through from client meeting to design and production.  Ensures quality work and determines schedule for work assignments.

Assists and advises customers on the use of production techniques.

Keeps abreast of current trends and technologies in the graphic arts and printing fields.  Provides guidance on graphics technology.

May collaborate with project teams to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, electronic media, photography, drawing or a closely related field, or the basic educational requirements for a Bachelor’s degree plus a course of study in art, drafting or drawing.

In conjunction with the Bachelor’s degree, one year experience of interactive courseware graphics and animation experience developing complex 2D and 3D graphics and animation depicting systems operational and/or maintenance procedures from pictures, motion pictures, and script/storyboards utilizing commercial off-the-shelf software such as 3D Studio or an equivalent modeling program; or in conjunction with the Basic Educational Requirement four years of interactive courseware graphics and animation experience developing complex 2D and 3D graphics and animation depicting systems operational and/or maintenance procedures from pictures, motion pictures, and script/storyboards utilizing commercial off-the-shelf software such as 3D Studio or an equivalent modeling program. One year recent experience (within the last two years) as a key team member or team leader in the design and development of multi-media training materials. This experience may have been gained concurrent with the graphics and animation experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

A SECRET clearance is required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Proficiency in desktop publishing (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe) and drawing software and systems (i.e. Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).

Knowledge of industry relevant multimedia software.

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
