Responsibilities/Qualification

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will provide human factors and user interface design support the Naval Information Warfare Center.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop user interface wireframes using our existing Style Guide
  • Evaluate existing user interfaces for compliance with our Style Guide
  • Effectively communicate with existing end users to understand their needs and how they use the system
  • Effectively communicate with Software Developers and answer questions related to the system user interface
  • Design, conduct, and document the results of usability tests
  • Review and modify, as necessary, existing system requirements related to the user interface

The candidate will support senior technical level personnel and program managers in the planning, oversight, and execution of complex and advanced projects related to system and technical product development. Typically supports multiple project activities and may support multiple programs within the organization.

Identifies opportunities for new program initiatives. Develops relevant briefings and specific project proposals, and works through appropriate channels to schedule presentation of these briefings and proposals to prospective customers.

Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Establishes and monitors standards for internal quality programs. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems or applicable company procedures and guidelines.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS degree in psychology, engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with a Master’s degree preferred, plus 8 years relevant work experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years of applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.

Experience conducting knowledge elicitation, workflow analyses, design mockups, and non-working higher fidelity prototypes. Additionally, directing the development, or personally developing higher fidelity partially-functional prototypes (using trade standard prototyping software).

Experience in leading functional human factors activities such as front end analysis, target audience development, user experience exercises, user stories development, and use case development.

Experience with customer interactions to define and manage project requirements, tasks and schedules. Project budget management also desirable.

Proficiency with user interface rapid prototyping tools and methods preferred. 

Experience with Human Subject IRB protocols and all applicable supporting documentation desirable.

US Citizenship and a current Secret clearance upon hire.
