Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Huamn Resources Director, manages recruitment, staffing, compensation and benefits, employee relations, AA/EEO compliance, and international assignment policy for the region to ensure Alion has comprehensive and integrated functions in these areas that contribute to the growth and profitability of Alion, recognizing the uniqueness of the region¿s mission as it relates to the overall corporate mission, strategically and operationally. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic HR leadership and consultation to organization. 
  • Provides technical direction, assistance, advice and guidance to the staff in the area of Human Resources.
  • Manages the implementation and administration of corporate HR policies to effectively meet strategic goals. 
  • Administers corporate compensation policies and practices to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce necessary to accomplishing the organizations goals, with guidance from the Compensation Team.
  • Manages and provides for the resolution of employee relations issues, ensures compliance, and the provision of all HR services ensuring corporate policy, goals and objectives are satisfied.
  • Responsible for review and compliance of employment offers. Partners with recruiting and management in efforts for new contract awards and staffing initiatives.
  • Consult with business leaders on workforce planning, job analysis, and organizational structure requirements.
  • Analyze market and industry compensation and benefit practices to establish competitive programs that will attract, retain, and motivate employees.
  • Liaise between management and employees by responding to questions and interpreting and administering policies, procedures, laws, standards, regulations, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to develop, implement, and update company policies and procedures to ensure alignment with company vision and provincial/federal legislation.
  • Monitor and keep abreast of legislative changes to ensure compliance throughout all HR functions.
  • Trains managers on HR initiatives and legislative awareness.
  • Coaches leadership and teammates, assists with employee development. 
  • Drafts and delivers communications and presentations.
  • Develops HR reports and metrics for business unit. Maintains and tracks employment records. Provides additional reporting to outside agencies when required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field plus 10 years of experience related Human Resources experience. Additional educational or work experience may be considered.  Prior experience working for a contractor preferred.

  • Experience in managing, motivating and developing staff is required. Experience partnering with leadership and leading strategic Human Resources initiatives required.
  • Experience in employee development and coaching required.
  • Familiarity with full life cycle recruiting and talent acquisition practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits programs, performance management, job classification, and compensation required. 
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office). Experience in PeopleSoft HRIS a plus. 
  • Knowledge of provincial/federal employment legislation and reporting requirements. Prior experience in managing compliance required.
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate effective change management.
  • Experience in transitioning new contract awards or large employee groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to all levels of professionals.
  • HR Certification desired.
