Assist in the development of user’s manuals, crew positional guides, and other documents intended to aid operators and maintainers of the Weapon System. Perform duties as directed that may include oversight of the storing and processing of information to ensure security of the Weapon System. Detecting any potential risks that are present, in order to minimize potential data breaches. Perform risk assessments; review data practices and data logs and detect any irregularities or hazards that might exist. Implement systems, in order to protect information. Determine remedies for detected events and provide solutions to circumvent future occurrences. Perform engineering functions in accordance with the guidance given by the Lead Information Assurance Engineer.  Provide cybersecurity information and documentation of any audits findings. Obtain and maintain necessary certification.

Information Assurance Engineer Tasks

  • Analyze networks to identify vulnerabilities and reduce breaches.
  • Develop and implement scanning and certification plans for network control and maintenance.
  • Document existing and proposed information architecture to convey compliance, problems, and solutions.

•       Resolve incidents and breaches, mitigating problems, and informing key personnel.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience with DoDI 8500.01, Cybersecurity, DODI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework

Knowledge on how to use and enter information to the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR), eMASS and XACTA.  

Assists with the preparation and review of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) documentation and tracks compliance with DoDI 8140.01 requirements for IA training. 

Must be knowledgeable of appropriate NIST Special Publications and Security Controls and the DoD A&A/C&A processes 

TS/SCI clearance


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience with AF Cyber Weapons Systems

Experience with IAVA and IAVM 

Experience in a dynamic and demanding environment

Knowledge of CMMI

Knowledge of SDLC and DevOps

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – Education and Training

ITIL certification Preferred, CISSP or other relevant Security Certification Preferred

8570.1M/DoD 8140 Information Assurance Certifications certified to an IAT Level II in accordance with DoDI 8140.01 

Must hold any of the following credentials: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC)

       Bachelor of Science 2-4 Years, Master of Science 0-2 or High School 8-9 .
