Position Summary

  • The Information Systems Engineer is responsible for performing information systems design, development, and analysis encompassing one or more of the following areas of technical expertise: programming, PC application analysis, software development, systems integration, and related disciplines. As an integral member of the technical team, the Information Systems Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining technical solutions and standards to provide the greatest analysis capability to the stakeholders, at the lowest possible cost, at the fastest pace achievable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Software Design Engineering (Principal) and works with a team of developers and subject matter experts to design, build, and maintain the technical architecture, configuration, and status documentation.
  • Builds, manages and maintains data systems, which include servers, storage, designs, applications, databases and networks.
  • Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of M&S, machine learning library and associated network.
  • Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software.
  • Supports site upgrades, audits, and other evaluations.
  • Installs and configures M&S software releases, upgrades, and patches.
  • Coordinates with the software engineering team and subject matter experts to enhance the effectiveness of the M&S and machine learning toolsets.
  • Analyzes, designs, acquires and implements projects for LAN and/or WAN systems.
  • Coordinates with internal and external vendors.
  • Complies with to Information Assurance and Cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours on occasion in order to provide support to stakeholders that are located in a different time zone.
  • Must be willing to travel to supported sites, as required.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline and 2 to 4 years of directly related experience.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • CompTIA Security + and Linux + certifications are required for the position. If candidate does not already possess these certifications, training and the certification exam will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Two or more years of professional experience with installation and integration in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong background in C and C++ development is highly desired.
  • Ability to provide technical project leadership, establish milestones, estimate resources, and other project management skills regarding the network architecture is required.
  • Two or more years of professional experience developing and maintaining IT System Security Plans (SSP).
  • Strong background in the installation of Oracle Database servers.
  • Experience working with JTLS, STORM, or other M&S is highly desired.
  • Experience working with machine learning libraries is highly desired.
  • Network troubleshooting skills both physical and logic.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) is a plus.
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of virtual machine technologies is required.
  • Works well individually or in a group setting.
  • Must have excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to successfully present technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • A Top Secret Clearance is required for employment.
