Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

 As a subject matter expert in the field, designs, tests and implements state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database products. Performs a wide range of complex security issues including architectures, electronic data traffic, and network access. Involved in the implementation of new security solutions, participation in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities

 The incumbent will be responsible for directing system Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation efforts of all classified information systems used in support of our government customers at Annapolis Junction, MD.

Direct the development and updates of the system security plans.

Track and report on system(s) RMF Authorization status; identify and resolve issues to maintain authorization throughout contractual period of performance.

Manage changes to the systems and assess the security impact of all requested changes to the system baseline configuration. Ensure system security plans are updated to reflect approved changes to the system architecture.

Respond to cyber related incidents in accordance with Alion Incident Response policy. Recommend changes to policies in accordance with changing threat.

Provide leadership, guidance, and training to users with both privileged and general accounts on the system.

Conduct internal audits and inspections of Alion classified systems for reporting to DSS and the Alion Corporate ISSM in accordance with the system’s Continuous Monitoring Plan.

Provide high-level consultation to management and makes recommendations in the areas of security and enhancements to improve overall system security.

Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

Provides technical expertise with complex proposals, including gathering facts, analyzing data and preparing project overview which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, availability of equipment and personnel, etc. Recommends course of action.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

 Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related computing field plus five years of directly related experience. An Information Assurance Certification desired. The preferred IA Certifications are CISSP or CISM.

In some cases, educational requirements and/or certifications may be adjusted or waived for a Bachelor degree in Information Assurance, Computer Science, or other related field and more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.

Demonstrated knowledge of secure operating systems as well as data security across multiple computer platforms.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, present technical approaches and findings; as well as work effectively in diverse teams.  

Ability to apply extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.

US Citizen and a Active DoD SECRET Clearance required (TOP SECRET with SCI Eligibility preferred).
