Job Description

The Infrastructure System Engineer will be part of the Alion Team which is supporting AFRL/RCB in the design, stand up and integration of a new infrastructure implementation which includes a Cross Domain Solution. The on-premises infrastructure implementation will mirror the unclassified AFRL Enterprise Business System (EBS) architecture in a classified environment.

  • Strong oral and written skills (ability to create checklists and support documentation).
  • Proven ability to cost an infrastructure, develop a Bill-of-Material (BoM), and perform vendor selection.
  • Proven track record related to infrastructure stand-up and sustainment.
  • Experience setting up and configuring various Linux systems.
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs to Server Operating Systems and applications.
  • Dedication to following and enforcing compliance with DOD and Air Force regulations.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise level administration of common network services such as active directory, DNS, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, TLS, SSH, DHCP and troubleshooting as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Manage Network Firewall to include firewall rules, NAT rules, and VPN access.
  • Document standard operating procedure (SOP), policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for future upgrades.
  • Develop disaster recovery and backup procedures.
  • Understand how to manage equipment lifecycle for hardware and other IT-related purchases.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting and resolution of network and end-user workstations.
  • Proven track record meeting data availability, backup, recovery, and overall uptime.
  • Expert knowledge of hardware configurations.
  • Experience with auditing, scripting and server configuration and preparation.
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
  • Maintenance and management of VMware.
  • Threat Management Gateway experience (TMGs).
  • Advanced knowledge of storage systems, Virtualization and Windows/Unix server infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of scripts for automation.
  • Advanced understanding of system and problem management tools.
  • Knowledge of system recovery procedures.
  • Performance improvement.
  • Must possess one of the following: CompTIA Security+ or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) or ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP).
  • Must possess an OS Certification, such as Windows XP, etc.
  • Systems Administration experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in Computer Engineering.
  • 8 years of extensive computer engineering (infrastructure) experience.
  • 3 years’ experience working with and configuring configuration management.
  • 3 plus years’ experience working in virtualized server environment.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Minimum of Secret clearance is required; Top Secret is desired.
