This IT Project Manager (Lead) position is responsible for the full life cycle project management of a wide variety of IT projects. Alion Project Managers work closely with our engineering staff to ensure strict adherence to scope, schedule, and budget, and to ensure successful project execution. This position requires regular interface with senior management, design engineers, customer stakeholders, implementation team members, vendors, and subcontractors. The lead project manager must have strong problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to lead through a complex and fast-paced environment and able to establish confidence and credibility with senior level IT leaders.

The IT Project Management Lead is responsible for project initiation, planning, execution and control.  The candidate will lead and train junior project managers and have oversight of all IT engineering related projects.  The candidate will facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements and work to resolve or assist in the resolution of cross-divisional resource or project conflicts.  Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for establishing Integrate Project Teams (IPTs) and conduct kickoff meetings with all stakeholders (to include government customers). 


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.

•       5 + years of experience in IT Project management

•       10+ years of IT related experience

•       PMP certification

•       ITIL or CMMI certification preferred

•       Experience managing large scale IT projects

•       Experience as PM trainer a plus

•       Strong attention to detail

•       Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities

•       Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, & Closing Projects

•       Controlling Scope, Time, Cost, Quality and Risk

•       Reporting on Project Performance

•       Manage Stakeholders Expectations

•       Leading and directing multidisciplinary project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget and scope.

•       Assesses project health and directing any necessary corrective measures. Creatively apply project management processes to address unique situations.

•       Creating and applying comprehensive project plans; detailed project schedules, resource estimates, quality requirements and metrics, and organizational change management activities.

•       Defining and documenting project work breakdowns and monitoring project status.

•       Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be a US Citizen, currently hold and  able to maintain a US Secret security clearance.
