Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Position Summary: 

JSAF Subject Matter Expert (SME) is member of the Tactical Training Group Atlantic-Gallery Hall Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Department in support of the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) and Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE). Performs subject matter expertise on the different types of Platforms and Shipboard Weapon Systems of USN and OPFOR assets.  Position requires a sufficient level of knowledge to be able to test model functionality, submit changes and communicate requirements to software developers.  The position supports Fleet Synthetic Training-Group Commander (FST-GC), Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Naval Undersea Warfare Training Assessment Course (NUWTAC), and Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Training and Integration efforts, as well as modeling for Navy Training Baseline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•         Assist the Modeling and Simulation Lead with the coordination of Modeling and Simulation support for all FST events. Perform JSAF systems analysis, capacity planning, system performance modeling, reliability analysis, statistical data analysis, database design and application development, requirements analysis, and data modeling.

•         Determines the required setup and confirms configuration of all JSAF machines for use during all FST events within TTGL Gallery Hall and assets located external to TTGL. 

•         Conducts all TTGL Modeling and Simulation JSAF Operational checks and end-to end testing prior to each FST event.  

•         Assist with the conduct of JSAF Operator training for all FST support personnel including Active duty and contractors.  

•         Conducts data analysis and assist software developers and other technical personnel in testing JSAF version updates and the preparation and execution of system operational

            verification testing (SOVT).

•         Identifies required capabilities and deficiencies of Modeling and Simulation systems and provides input to NSWC for improvement to JSAF to meet fleet requirements. 

•         Enters and tracks JSAF issues in the NWDC JIRA database that require correction or modification. 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems preferred.

At least 2-4 years Modeling and Simulation (M&S) operator experience

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience. Experience in the conduct of Fleet Synthetic Training training events which use JSAF as the Maritime Simulation within the JLVC environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Preference for Modeling and Simulation training experience with JSAF

Familiarity with MARCI and Navy/NCTE C4I Systems interfaces

Proficient with JSAF (Joint Semi-Automated Forces) software use. 

Preference for Training and Education experience.                                                                                            

Preference for training course documentation development.                                                                         

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in applications

Clearance:

Must currently hold and be able to maintain a DoD US Secret clearance
