Job Description



Assist in oversight of Combat Systems (CS) modernization related industrial events.  Perform as an Alteration Installation Team (AIT), In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) Coordinator for LCS Post-Delivery and CNO events (Post-Shakedown Availabilities (PSAs), Final Contract Trials (FCTs), maintenance periods, Restricted Availabilities). 

Tasking entails integrating and coordinating CS work requirements and schedules with the Naval Supervisory Authority (NSA), shipyard and full-service contractor efforts.  Act as a liaison between requested CS installation and test dates and Integrated Master Schedules, writing CS status reports (weekly / daily / event / completion). Develop meeting minutes, facilitate issue resolution tele-conferences, and identify risk and potential solutions to CS problems. Participate in daily and weekly production meetings from a CS perspective. Develop inputs and draft statements of work for support services, relay CS issues for resolution, resolve conflicts and integrate emergent upgrades into shipyard production schedules.

Have a daily on-deck presence to ensure all services are available to support CS work. Coordinate work certification memos, relay processes and procedures for AIT installations, gather AIT POA&Ms and test plans and provide them to availability / event management teams. Check/work with CS teams to ensure that all requirements for install / visit are met prior to the teams commencing work. Work with the Regional Maintenance and Modernization Coordination Offices (RMMCO) to ensure all event Objective Quality Evidence of installations (QA workbooks) is captured.  The support also includes participating in all LCS Hull Modernization Planning (HMP) reviews (weekly and monthly) representing AIT and visit start/completion dates. Work as the production POC for AIT check-in/outs including completion walk-throughs, notifying SUPSHIP QA of AIT checkpoints.

Manage CS trial card and Test Observation Report (TOR) resolutions. Initiate and manage paperwork for LCS Combat System modernization including Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Condition Found Reports (CFRs). Provide recommendations / presentations / inputs relative to metrics, lessons learned, process improvements and instructions relative to duties as tasked.   Work requires remaining current on CS work (modernization and maintenance) and test progress, issues, trial card/ TOR/ certification / open DD-250 item status and sharing information with the LCS CS and Program Office team.

Education and Requirements:

Bachelors degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus at least 8 years of directly related experience or a Masters degree and 6 years of experience. (Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.)

Familiarization with LCS-class ships, LCS IDE accounts, shipbuilding disciplines (electrical, piping, arrangement, ship fitting, build of materials, etc.), and US Naval and commercial policies and procedures relative to shipboard design and installation.

The position requires professional speaking, writing skills and project management experience.

A secret security clearance will be required for employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in shipbuilding disciplines and US Navy and commercial specifications relative to shipboard design and installation.
