Job Description


Position Summary:

Leads the development, operation and maintenance of a variety of complex technology systems. Participates in the integration of processes and methodologies to ensure the performance of the total system.

Education and Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in an technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experience.

Should have a familiarization with DDG 1000 class ships.

Drawing familiarity across shipbuilding disciplines (electrical, piping, arrangement, ship fitting, Build of Materials, etc.).

Understanding of ship testing processes and procedures.

Understanding of US Navy new construction fleet and program office work package processes.

Knowledge of the JFFM and Standard Items. Understanding of installation QA and test and inspection requirements.

A security clearance of an appropriate level will be required after employment.


Supports senior technical level personnel and program managers in the planning, oversight, and execution of complex and advanced projects related to technical systems development. Typically supports multiple project activities and may support multiple programs within the organization. 

Provides technical guidance and mentoring to lower level technical staff.

Recognized within Alion as a senior level contributor in the field, and may have begun to acquire a similar reputation in the external scientific and client communities.

Supervises and reviews activities of staff, scheduling and assigning work to meet program/project completion dates. 

Works closely with senior customer personnel in providing solutions to complex problems and advice on technical issues.

The duties and responsibilities will also include:
Production Support:
Anti-Air and Land Attack Warfare Mission Area Support:
      1. Provide testing and installation support in the areas of the following systems: SPY3, CEC, SEWIP, IFF, VLS, AGS, TTWCS and CIGS.

Support shall include:
Acting as an on-site technical advisor to the Combat Test Team for the Combat Systems equipment listed above

Supporting receipt, inspection and installation of Combat Systems equipment

Support planning and execution of ship trials

 Assisting in the development, review and adjudication of documentation and procedures for the above systems
(installation, design, management, test, presentations, readiness briefs, logistic support elements, drawings, Corrective
Action Reports (CARs), Liaison Action Requests (LARs), Test Observation Reports (TORs), Trial Cards, etc.) in support of
production and testing of the new construction DDG-1000 class ships

Supporting production test, Quality Assurance (QA), modernization, maintenance and ship visits relative to the
systems listed above

Coordinating with the shipbuilder and other teams to effectively test the installation of the Combat system and
Combat System elements, record open discrepancies and work with the ship builder, the program offices (PMS 500 and
IWS 9.0), the In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAS) and SUPSHIP to resolve open issues

Providing Combat System (CS) status/progress on weekly basis

Supporting the Naval Technical Authority (NTA) teams in the review/witness/report out of test procedures including all
stage testing, ship trials and certifications

Reviewing new ship construction specifications, walking Command, Control, Communications, Computers,
Collaboration and Intelligence (C5I) spaces and equipment installations to ensure conformance to specifications

Providing oversight of Combat System Equipment installations in accordance with (IAW) with approved specifications

Supporting QA of production work
