Responsibilities/Qualification

Provide nondestructive testing materials engineering support for the NAVSEA 05P2 Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT&E) technical warrant area, conduct tasking in support of Cumbersome Work Practice (CWP) tasks associated with NDT&E, and prepare associated documentation including specifications, technical manuals, and military standards including:

Review and provide recommended changes to governing technical publications for nondestructive testing and evaluation.  Evaluate and resolve comments from govt/industry teams.

Support Cumbersome Work Practices program by evaluating new processes and procedures meet technical and quality requirements.

Develops, applies and maintains quality requirements and standards for highly complex development and manufacturing products.

Primary interface with other govt entities and industry partners to evaluate and resolve quality problems and provide information.

Leads, develops, evaluates, revises, and applies technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products.

Ensures activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards, industry standards (such as ISO and GMPs) and applicable government regulations. Leads audits.

Performs analysis and identifies trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when necessary.

Evaluates and analyzes the efforts in organizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records.

Leads, plans, develops, coordinates, and implements highly complex engineering projects. Ensures the technical accuracy of the results obtained.

Performs highly complex analysis and trouble-shooting.

Evaluates progress and results of project and recommends new methods to improve project design, procedures and performance.

Regularly participates in the activities of professional societies.

Prepares and assists others in the development of status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contact reports, technical analyses or other outputs needed.

Prepares and provides formal briefings to staff and customers and participates in technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the customer.

Provides work leadership to less experienced Quality Engineers.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & requirements:

Bachelor's Degree and  8 years of relevant experience.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.

Strong orientation and a proven track record in the use of statistical techniques to characterize, prioritize, monitor and improve performance.

Experience in UT, RT and and other Non Destructive Testing processes

Familiar with Computed Radiography

Knowledge of Navy NDT tech pubs and guidance

Familiar with Friction Stir Welding requirements.

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in quality engineering.
