Position Summary

Leads the development, operation and maintenance of a variety of complex terrain database generation toolsets for the Army's Synthetic Environment (SE) Core program. Participates in the integration of databases, processes and methodologies to ensure the performance of the runtime database on the target system.  The SE Core program provides the common infrastructure definition and the SE artifacts necessary to enable simulations to participate in the Live, Virtual and Constructive Integrated Training Environment (LVC ITE). Highly qualified candidates will have experience with SE Core and/or SE Core confederate programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Applies advanced technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to support multiple project teams in the development of runtime terrain products. Performs complex engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of program level system development, engineering analysis and research. Carries out complex assignments requiring the development of new research concepts or improvement of current techniques and procedures. Displays an advanced understanding and innovative use of concepts and principles in performing assignments.

Supervises and reviews activities of staff, scheduling and assigning work to meet program/project completion dates.  Works closely with senior customer personnel in providing solutions to complex problems and advice on technical issues.

Exercises independent judgment in conducting complex analyses and development efforts, and provides technical direction to other staff. Educates and advises more junior technical staff members in the technical aspects of their efforts.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related scientific discipline plus 8 to 10 years of directly related experience or a Master¿s degree and 6 years of experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years of applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Must have a firm understanding of the systems engineering processes involved in full lifecycle software development; Agile-scrum experience is desired.

Specific experience in system or software engineering on SE Core confederate programs (e.g., CCTT, AVCATT, LVC-IA, OneSAF, JLCCTC) is desired

Experience with development and integration of visual databases is desired.

Experience with constructive, virtual or gaming simulation systems is desired.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
     
Discipline to work in a CMMI Level III development environment

Knowledge of geospatial toolsets and generation of runtime terrain databases, synthetic environments and/or visual rendering of 3D models.

Knowledge of visual rendering hardware.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Must be US citizen; no dual citizenship allowed.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a clearance; active SECRET security clearance is preferred.
