Alion is actively seeking a junior to mid-level logistics analyst with at least two years of experience in support of an active contract with the U.S. Navy.  This position with support the Program Executive Office Submarines program office, PMS404, Joint Undersea Weapons Program Office, oversees the design, production, delivery and life cycle support of heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes and associated products. This position will be in Washington, DC by the Navy Yard. 

Position Summary

Under general supervision, develops and implements policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure effective and economical life cycle support of NAVSEA products, equipment, and systems.  Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between point of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements. Develops budgets and resource plans to meet life-cycle funding requirements.  Coordinates with the Business and Financial Management team to initiate funding actions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs all activities involved in the acquisition and management of life cycle material, including spares, replenishment parts and consumables.  Plans, develops and implements programs to coordinate physical distribution, order fulfillment, inventory management and control, and contract management activities.

Duties include the gathering and analysis of information on moderately complex product plans and project objectives, providing tracking and status reports, and support for ensuring distribution and delivery commitments.

Analyzes moderately complex technical data, customer usage data, customer maintenance practices, customer operation characteristics, and related reports to determine requirements.

Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.

Develops logistics plans for facilities, personnel, equipment, spares and maintenance.  Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.

Assesses and recommends the feasibility of proposed approaches to improve logistics operations and reduce in-service costs.

Prepares and presents reports, studies, cost analyses, and briefings to staff and customers as needed.

Participates in technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the customer.

Builds relationship with strategic customers through logistics initiatives. 
Researches logistics technology advances and applies appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes.

Must be willing to complete the training requirements for DAWIA Level 1 certification from DAU for Life Cycle Logistics.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline plus at least 2 years of directly related experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by 
market survey data.

Acquisition experience as it applies to In-Service operations is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards.

General application of concepts and principals.

Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel

An active or current SECRET security clearance required
