Responsibilities/Qualification

Logistics Specialist, Senior – NAS Patuxent River, MD

Position Summary

Alion Science & Technology is seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to perform complex aviation logistics activities related to the development, operation, evaluation, and improvement of weapon systems supportability and/or maintainability programs and information systems.  Specific activities include technical evaluation and identification of weapons systems logistics requirements and resources; development of logistics support and maintainability programs or plans; systems acquisition  requirements analysis; budgetary or financial analysis and control; life cycle cost analysis and control; weapons systems hardware and software standardization and compatibility; Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)/Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) program test and evaluation planning and execution; and, ILS/R&M program management analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Develop solutions for fleet problem/deficiency/suggestion action chits that may require research into technical publications, DLA and NAVSUP supply systems, SERDS, Maintenance Plans, TDS and Training Plans.

-Provide recommendation or inputs for TPDRS, TMSDRS, IRACS, DCNS and SM&R code changes.

-Perform the necessary technical research with engineering oversight to determine appropriate substitution for parts not in supply. 

-Perform research and analysis on bills of material to ensure current supported configuration of aircraft/system/equipment are represented.

-Perform research and analysis on consumable piece parts and aviation depot level repairables to resolve possible stock or repair turnaround time issues. 

-Provide the necessary research and analysis to identify supply degraders or recommend solutions to already established degraders. 

-Assist in the identification on other possible issues that affect availability of parts and components such as the lack of authorized manufacturers, long lead times, and proprietary data or processes.

-Work cooperatively with cross-functional teams on daily activities.

Education and Experience

BS or BA degree in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and at least 5 years related experience working in direct support of Defense life-cycle logistics.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

-Experience in Navy/Marine Corps aviation logistics and tracking, Technical manuals and Logistic product data.

-A DoD Secret Security clearance is required.
