Job Description


Leads the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure effective and economical support for manufacturing or servicing of products, equipment, and systems. Includes the gathering and analysis of information on highly complex product plans, machined systems and subsystems and project objectives, providing tracking and status reports, and support for ensuring distribution and delivery commitments.

Analyzes highly complex, technical data packages, models, customer usage data, customer maintenance practices, customer operation characteristics, and related reports to determine requirements.

Develops logistics plans to build, modify, occupy facilities to include, personnel, equipment, spares, safety and maintenance requirements. Researches and develops policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.  Works in concert with Quality Managers to implement Quality Management Strategy.

Uses industrial skills to assemble prototype systems and subsystems that may include mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.

Conforms to quality processes and performs quality assurance checks on parts, components, and assemblies.

Performs tests in accordance with provided test procedures on parts, components, and assemblies.

Collaborates with Government Engineers to refine models and drawings for machine shop production

Provides expertise to Government engineering team on methods, modifications, recommendations for bracket, box, fittings manufacture and procurement.

Troubleshoots fitment and manufacturing issues with Government team

Assesses and recommends the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve highly complex problems.

Utilizes extensive knowledge of local manufacturing base to expand current network of vendors and suppliers.

Prepares and presents reports, studies, cost analyses, and briefings to staff and customers as needed.

Leads technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the customer.

Researches logistics technology advances and applies appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes.

Participates in writing proposals calling for logistics and or manufacturing expertise.

Identifies and resolves highly complex logistics and manufacturing issues.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

We require a minimum of an Associate or Technical degree with 8 plus years’ experience in Logistical management. In special circumstances we will substitute 15 years of directly related experience in lieu of education.

Must be able to travel between local Alion facilities and to vendor / suppliers in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Georgia.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
