Responsibilities/Qualification

 

USMC Readiness Analyst Position

This position will support HQMC LPO by providing a readiness analyst - focused at the service level to include logistics, manpower, training, facilities and equipping - with both functional and analytical skills and experience analyzing similar problems at the HQMC I&L and Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM) organizational levels.

Education:  Masters of Science in Operations Research, Logistics Management or related quantitative, math-based degree including a quantitative-heavy MBA with applied focus to USMC logistics problems and improvement initiatives.

Experience:  6 or more years of experience within the USMC Logistics Community with some of this experience operational, spent at HQMC, MARCORLOGCOM in applying quantitative methods in performing analysis, studies, technical oversight of studies, and experience in identifying how analytic results translate into into information requirements at senior decision maker areas.  Required experience includes:

  • Participating in developing and delivering analysis and results across a wide range of functional areas to achieve outcomes that meet pre-defined objectives. 
  • Working in HQMC I&L (LX, LPV, LPO), PP&O, or P&R and interacting with action officers and/or analysts within MARCORLOGCOM.  Working at MARCORLOGCOM and performing related analysis is an added benefit. 
  • Understanding enterprise sustainment processes at MARCORLOGCOM (i.e. depot maintenance, ELMP, MEI Strat, distribution, COSIS, etc.) and with translation to sustainment support changes on operating forces, unit level performance and readiness.
  • Using and developing USMC logistics planning factors to calculate requirements across the classes of supply.  

Skills.  Demonstrated skills to develop or review and document models, simulations, and analytics-based models using a variety of software including proven use of open source software (e.g. R).  Skilled communicator with the ability to create, prepare, coordinate and delivery in person, over the phone or over a virtual teleconference.

Abilities: The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Independently develop an analysis plan for assessing USMC readiness with focus on manpower, training, facilities, equipment, supply and maintenance drivers.  
  • Intimate understanding of the impacts and causes of USMC Readiness. 
  • Proven ability to present readiness drivers analysis results within the DC I&L lanes identifying what factors can be influenced to improve readiness
  • Ability to maneuver between aggregate and individual/serial number level of detail
  • Effective communicator - ability to explain results to senior leadership at the appropriate level of aggregation, translating complex results to simplified, straight forward decision making briefs.
  • Ability to deep dive into the USMC logistics enterprise data systems to uncover root causes of readiness drivers.
  • Ability to understand functionally, the “why” of dips in readiness and to back up with sound, verifiable analysis.
  • Develop presentations including creation and critical reviews with minimal oversight and providing feedback that is useful for LPO considering mid-level leadership, senior leadership and decision maker perspectives.
  • Identify additional reporting requirements based on recurring analysis and support HQMC LPO reporting process.

**This is a virtual position requiring location either in Northern Virginia or Albany, GA***  Candidate must be able to travel frequently to Northern Virginia or Albany, GA.
