Job Description



Provide onsite production support to US Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding overseeing construction of US Navy ships with a goal of building quality ships while reducing costs and minimizing delays to delivery.  Duties required to meet this overall goal include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing and maintaining productive liaisons with Government project team and Craft, and Production and planning organizations supporting Build, Integration, Delivery, and Testing of US Navy ships.
  • Inspect Care and Protection efforts for equipment installed on ships under construction and report progress to the Navy. Document and report as required.
  • Responsible for the providing analysis of various government and contractor hull management reports to recommend changes to higher level engineers to ensure consistency and accuracy of the same.
  • Attends production progress meetings. Provide recommendations to Government on status of production efforts, engineering or technical problems, and quality assurance issues.
  •  Assist in trial card screening and ship checks of disputed or trial cards that need clarification.
  • Conduct minimum of daily walk throughs of production areas noting progress, efficiencies and items of concern.
  • Develop and provide status/progress reports as requested, to government, government support activities and contractor representatives.
  • Providing analysis and written technical input to support resolution of production and project management deficiencies and failures identified through existing US Government and Shipbuilder reports
  • Writing reports and other documentation as required.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise.

Experience in shipbuilding practices, production techniques, and waterfront engineering procedures.

Demonstrated ability to work in industrial environment and evaluate craft production progress.

Ability to apply standard technical concepts and procedures to assist higher level engineers in evaluating and developing technical products.

Ability to perform basic engineering work in analysis, evaluation, testing and operation of systems and component development.

Ability to work closely in teaming environment with uniformed and civil service employees to meet objectives with direct supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively with Navy and shipyard teams both orally and in written reports and briefings.

Ability to work in industrial environment that requires significant walking, climbing ladders, and operating in noise and sight hazard areas.

Ability to read, write and speak English fluently are required.

Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
