We are looking for a motivated Military Analyst to provide program support to the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Sensor Experimentation Branch at Adelphi, MD. The individual must be a highly motivated, resourceful person passionate about impacting the successful execution of fielding and training new technologies to the Warfighter. The applicant will use their knowledge in conventional and unconventional explosives to evaluate Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) tools, assist in C-IED training of Hand-Held Detectors (HHD), and support scientists and engineers in the evaluation of emerging technologies as applicable to C-IED operations. The position requires the presentation of written and oral briefings to senior military officials and Government employees.   


  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of training course curriculum for current HHD systems
  • Assist in the maintenance of physical training sites for HHD systems and other C-IED systems.
  • Prepare and review briefings, presentations, reports, documents, and correspondence to ensure objectives are met
  • Maintain and keep daily record of significant activities in Microsoft Office products
  • Assist on new projects involving HHD systems and their use.
  • Conduct HHD classroom and hands-on training at CONUS and OCONUS training sites
  • Review and provide input for improvement or development of computer based HHD virtual training aids
  • Participate in testing of HHD systems and other C-IED systems under a variety of conditions
  • Assist in ARL’s target simulant inventory, monitoring inventory, storing targets, receiving requests, packing for shipment and ordering new targets from various sources
  • Travel Required, estimated 1-2 trips/month, typically duration of 1-10 days, on occasion travel time may be longer
  • Conduct and/or participate in meetings, teleconferences, and briefings

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience or 15+ years of Military Service
  • Recent combat experience being deployed within the past eight years
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience with conducting classroom instruction and hands-on training
  • Ability to work with other Services and with senior military officers/NCOs and government civilians
  • US Citizenship
  • Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Army combat arms or Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officer (04/05) or senior NCO (E7/8/9)
  • Experience with HHD systems (e.g., Minehound, VMC1, CEIA CMD, DSP-27, Strider)
  • Experience in C-IED tactics, techniques and procedures
  • Ability to travel extensively to CONUS and OCONUS HHD training sites
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
