Job Description

Responsibilities/Qualification

Summary

Alion is seeking skilled, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Military/Requirements Analysts to support efforts on our Requirements/Test & Evaluation Contract Team within the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE)–Alion Program.

On this team, you will work in support of the Joint Staff J7 (JS J7) Deputy Director Joint Training (DD JT) Environment Operations Division (EOD) and assisting other teams within the JTSE–Alion Program to support the JS J7 DD JT Environment Architecture Division (EAD).

Background

One of the key components of the JTSE is the Joint, Live, Virtual, Constructive (JLVC) simulation federation, a combination of Service, Agency, functional, and management applications linked to enable operations and data exchange between simulations regardless of their computing platforms. Evolving from the JLVC simulation federation is the JS J7 produced Joint Training Tool (JTT), representing a precursor environment focused on providing a single digital environment to support training, from event planning through execution.

The JTT reflects a modernization effort to shift from stove-piped training systems to a training environment developed using the development approach for modular, open systems architecture as described in the DoD Open System Architecture Contract Guidebook for Program Managers. This approach uses commercial web-based technology, open source software to the maximum extent possible, and recognized technical standards.

The JTSE-Alion Contract Support Team provides management and development expertise to the JS J7 DD JT JTSE modernization efforts by sustaining JLVC and developing the JTT system. The contract support team comprises four teams: Software Development, Data, Cyber/Infrastructure/System Administration, and Requirements/Test & Evaluation.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Provide extremely high-level subject matter expertise regarding Combatant Command (CCMD) and Joint exercises.
  • Maintain familiarity with JS J7 supported joint event life cycle (JELC) events and the ability to interact with JELC participants for the purpose of demonstrating and promoting JTT development efforts.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of systems under development within DD JT EAD to include current JTT functionality and an understanding of proposed system characteristics and future functionality.
  • Conduct user engagements and represent the user community in discussions with DD JT EOD and EAD and software developers concerning design and functionality.
  • Identify, categorize, and conduct analysis that examines operational and joint training gaps, requirements, and needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and document several JS J7 DD JT coordination boards, working groups, and planning teams that support and advance the joint training community of interest and capability development efforts.
  • Design and prepare reports, papers, and related documentation; organize information and record results using collaborative tools on the Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise–DI2E such as Jira and Confluence; and, prepare and deliver presentations and briefings for senior leaders and managers.

Education and Qualifications

Master’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience. Highly prefer Master’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Relevant operational experience and direct experience with JS J7 supported CCMD and Joint exercises.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to conduct extensive research and synthesis as well as write and communicate at the executive level.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
