Responsibilities/Qualification

Alion Science and Technology is seeking an intelligent and driven individual to serve on a small team that is trying to solve a Defense and government-wide problem.  You will be a Research Analyst in the field of mobile technology that will aid in Personnel Recovery at Fort Belvoir, VA.  Research will be focused on how to use a smartphone to prevent a service member from becoming an isolated person.  Research will be in the areas of mobile applications, worldwide cellular coverage, and will also pursue peripheral technology that can allow for added smartphone functionality. The outcome of this project will provide an additional resource to US Government personnel should they find themselves in an isolating event.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct research on both Commercial and Government off-the-shelf mobile application technology.
  • Conduct research on worldwide GSM coverage.
  • Conduct research on peripheral devices to enhance smartphone capabilities and make recommendations as to functionality requirements.
  • Coordinate with SME in the Services, COCOMS, and other agencies to find best use practices and applications currently in use.
  • Prepare detailed reports and analysis of assigned topics.
  • Publish findings on a public portal (CAC-enabled) for community comment and involvement.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of work experience in the US Military.
  • Background in mobile technology, communications engineering or other related fields.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Functional understanding of MS Office.

Additional Desired Education and Experience:

  • SERE School graduate.
  • Knowledge of Personnel Recovery.
  • Experience in evasion planning.

Clearance:

  • Candidate must have an active SECRET clearance.

Location:

  • Most work will be conducted at Ft. Belvoir, VA
