Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary:

Lead or support project teams to address national security space issues and develop high impact solutions

Work quickly and interact frequently with senior government program leadership providing both technical feedback and direction.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

Work independently and work well as a team member.

Perform unconstrained thinking in framing DoD and national security, and civil space problems, defining and validating space and multi-domain solutions.

Decompose problems into fundamentals, and understand and prioritize the parameters that define and constrain the problem so as to enable rapid development of 80%-level, but high impact solutions.

Perform physics-based modeling, simulation, and analysis using low-level programming language to high-level analysis tools.  Develop tools as needed.

Perform general and ‘big-data’ analytics. Identify and use appropriate machine learning and artificial intelligence tools and capabilities to find solutions or be incorporated into solutions.

Speak extemporaneously and convincingly on topics at all technical levels, internally to the organization and externally.

Abstract complex ideas and explain/brief these to a wide range of audiences including technical and non-technical peers, co-workers, and senior DoD, government, and industry leaders.

Mentor other team members.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus at least 10 years relevant work experience.  Degree(s) must be in physics, engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.  Project Management experience.

Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated command of modeling, simulation and analysis principles, and physics-based engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.

Understanding of or experience in remote sensing.

Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.

Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Security Clearance: Top Secret with immediate SCI eligibility is required on the first day.
