Job Description


Alion Science and Technology is seeking Microsoft certified Information Technology (I.T.) experienced personnel with a minimum of a current active Secret Level security clearance to assist Federal employees onsite at the Washington Navy Yard, Southeast Washington DC.

Job Functions:

Candidate will work under general supervision of onsite Project Manager.

Act as SharePoint Site Collection Administrator for a collection of sites supporting acquisition programs and document management.  Experience in HTML and/or JavaScript is preferred.  Experience developing solutions using HTML, JQuery, and RESTful servers is highly preferred!

Support to hundreds of end-user computers running Windows 7 and/or Windows 10 operating system.  Must have solid knowledge and be able to help end-users with the Microsoft productivity suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

Assist end-users (customers) in resolving IT related issues regarding computer hardware and software, network access, peripheral equipment and security safeguards.

Assist network administrators for the overall configuration management of the database technologies, including upgrades to new software product releases and the installation of service packs.

Resolve technical problems with local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other systems supporting end-user productivity.  A solid understanding of routers, switches, media converters, and other networking equipment is preferred.

Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex problems to ensure minimal disruption of mission-critical applications.

Establish network policies and procedures regarding access methods and time, and security validation checks.

Maintain network security; ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced.

Install and maintain network monitoring systems; performs intrusion detection as needed.

Manage network performance, maintains fault-tolerant systems and manages system backups.

Provide telecommunication customer support to include mobile devices and associated wireless carrier network services.  Experience with the Good for Enterprise application for enabling enterprise mobile email services is preferred.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or I.T. relevant field with at least  2-4 years’ of relevant experience.  (In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience.)

A  SECRET clearance is required upon employment.

Must have an understanding of business process re-engineering and knowledge of using technology tools to automate and improve existing paper-based processes.

Experience or knowledge is required in the following technologies:  

  • Experience with Help Desk duties,
  • U.S. Navy NMCI and SIPR accounts preferred,
  • SharePoint Site Collection Administration experience is desirable,
  • Using HTML, JQuery, and RESTful servers highly desired.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Participates in special projects as required.

Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support.

Knowledge of modems, data scopes, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and network management software.

Thorough knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Candidate must be able to illustrate actions already taken to be compliant with DoDD 8570 security certification requirements and obtain compliance within 6 months of hire date.
