Responsibilities/Qualification

Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience. Professional certification(s) may be required.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.

Familiar with the principles, methods, and techniques used in network design and development.

Familiar with modems, data scopes, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and network management software.

Knowledge and background in Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle to include processes

Experience in UML, SysML, JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket (Agile Development processes and tools)

Technical skills to understand and analyze system problems, define potential solutions, and conduct in-depth technical analysis, assessment and trades and explain results of technical studies in a systems engineering context

Demonstrate understanding of performance and requirements analysis techniques, and acceptance testing strategies/methodologies

Possess basic knowledge of cloud computing and big data analytics

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong team player with the ability to work independently

Ability to think outside the box, championing innovation

May require certification in one or more specific applications (such as MCSE, MCSA, CNE, CNA), depending on job assignment.

US Citizen and a TS/SCI security clearance will be required for this position.

The Senior Network Engineer plans, designs, developments, and implements network engineering plans and wide-scale networks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

Performs a variety of engineering studies and analysis and recommends hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions.

Debugs and tests networks and assists in performing needs assessments by studying network traffic.

Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Evaluates new hardware and software for networks to determine which products best meet organization/customer needs.

Participates in the initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provide resolution for system issues.

Prepares cost/benefit estimates for network design, development, and implementation.

Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.

Participates in special projects as required.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Perform systems engineering to develop operational concept (CONOPS), system architecture, requirements, design, and interface

Prepare and review test plans and test reports, analytical evaluation of system¿s compatibility, and development of requirements

Review and assess contractor designs, conduct trade studies on alternative system design approaches

Develop systems engineering artifacts such as Operational Views (OVs), System Views (SVs), and Technical Views (TVs); Unified Modeling Language (UML) artifacts such as sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, data flow diagrams, etc.

Develop systems engineering documents such as CONOPS, requirements document/specification, Interface Control Document (ICD), Test Plan/Cases, etc.

Develop systems engineering artifacts in support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Workflow accreditation process

Participate or lead technical meetings and government-led studies, assess technical baselines and ensure system modifications meet requirements

Develop and maintain project plan and schedule (proficient with MicroSoft Project)

Participate in Change Control Board to ensure engineering product standardization and adherence to project's policies and procedures
