Position Summary

As a subject matter expert in the field, the Principal Information Assurance Analyst supports USINDOPACOM cyber training and exercise requirements by providing cyber range engineering services for training, testing, and experimentation activities for network architectures.  Involved in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments after new network architecture configurations are implemented.  Individual may be called upon to advise and resolve issues on a wide range of complex security challenges including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic and network access.

Duties and Responsibilities          

Leads the design, development, implementation, and execution of cyber training, testing and evaluation exercises and events.  Contributes to the development of USINDOPACOM level events.

Maybe required to support others with design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security studies and provides recommendations for application design.

Provides consultation and analysis at many levels of total system product, including: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

Provides research, analysis, and recommendations for the development and application of various security technologies including encryption, penetration tools, and vulnerability assessment methods.

Designs and develops new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks.

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis and relates existing system to future needs and trends. Specifically focused on RDT&E networks, training environments and other special purpose enclaves.

Develops network architectures and requirements including embedding advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, and other cyber-event analysis, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration/testing issues.

Creates and enforces enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures). Maintains documentation, procedures and working instructions in accordance with DoD and USINDOPACOM guidelines.

Reviews logs and reports and interprets the implications. Leads investigations into problematic activity and devises plans for appropriate resolution.

Provides high level consultation to management and makes recommendations in the areas of security and enhancements to improve overall enterprise security.

Maintains up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

Provides technical expertise with complex proposals, including gathering facts, analyzing data and preparing project overview which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, availability of equipment and personnel, etc. Recommends course of action.

Provides oversight, training and direction to less experienced Analysts.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Position will require travel in the USINDOPACOM AOR up to 40%.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Cyber Security or related discipline plus fifteen years or more of relevant experience in a DoD environment relating to Cyber, including Cyber offense and defense related fields, along with related planning, training, or doctrine.

An Information Assurance Certification; e.g., CISSP, CISM, or GSLC; is required. 

Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

     Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of state-of-the-art secure operating systems as well as data security across multiple computer platforms.

Demonstrated leadership in the development and deployment of networks, training, and cyber security programs for US Navy systems.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

Ability to apply extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.

Ability to work effectively and lead in a diverse and geographically distributed work group.

TS/SCI Clearance required upon employment.
