Job Description


Join a team of analysts, engineers and support personnel (and sub-contractors) providing production and programmatic support to the U.S. Navy Shipbuilding programs. Supports DDG 51 Class Production Branch.

  • Provide technical support to the Production Officer, Post Delivery Officer, and Program Manager’s Representatives at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Offices.
  • Supervises, directs, and motivates the shipboard trials team during planning and execution of Shipbuilder and INSURV trial events.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations in support of program office efforts.  Provide engineering support to the later stages of design and to production during construction, activation, test, and delivery of DDG 51 Class Ships. Manage and maintain a close working relationship with key technical subcontractors.
  • Prepare Program Briefs and correspondence for Senior Naval Leaders documenting the status of production, testing and delivery of ships in the SCN window.
  • Prioritize workload and determine if staffing levels are appropriate.  Ensure quality and quantity of staffing is optimum to support program office schedule milestones.
  • Actively participate in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, and reduce costs.  Participate in Quality Assurance Program planning.
  • Attend Shipyard progress reviews with members of the program office and shipyard.  Provide recommendation for process improvement and corrective action.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering or a related field plus 10 to 15 years of directly related experience. 

  • A Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desired.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in support ACAT I New construction shipbuilding programs. Must have experience in producing, testing and delivering DDG 51 class ships.  Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • Desired Experience includes: DoD/Navy Production Engineering, Industry/Government Technical Management or Industry/Government Business Management including experience in Earned Value Management. Demonstrated knowledge of the Trial Card Management System and associated tools such as Electronic Trial Card (ETC) and Technical Support Management (TSM) System.
  • Possesses a SECRET clearance or has the ability to attain one.
