Position Summary

Alion is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer that has extensive background in DoD acquisitions and modification to support the U2 modernization effort under the direction of the U2 Systems Program Office (SPO). Will be part of a small team based in Dayton Ohio representing the U2 Systems Program Office (SPO) at Robins AFB to multiple WPAFB AFLCMC  SPOs, to include, but not limited to  ISR Sensors SPO. 

The Senior Engineer will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert on mission-critical infrastructure, systems, and equipment supporting the U2 modernization. The successful candidate will contribute immediately to the development of new concepts, systems and prototypes to solve complex, highly innovative, and ingenious problems to support U2 platform and sensors to meet modern mission challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities

 As the senior engineer the successful candidate will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert on mission-critical infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
•Applies professional knowledge of scientific and engineering concepts, principles, phenomena and relationships to: assess specific requirements, delineate appropriately engineered designs, and develop preliminary and final design plans, engineering specifications, cost estimates and procurement packages in support of the operation, preventive maintenance and repair of mission critical systems and equipment.
•Specifies functional requirements, designs and tests components, analyzes designs, and integrates components.
•Evaluates overall design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Designs, analyzes, configures, tests and troubleshoots systems, as well as providing project engineering support, development and evaluation support and/or life cycle support of a complex nature in a narrow area of specification.
•Reviews reports and briefings prepared by technical staff for quality.
•Leads technical discussions for design and upgrades.  Prepares and delivers formal briefings.
•Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customer, subcontractors and other outside agencies.

Required Education and Experience (Mandatory)
•Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering field and 8 plus years of experience in Project management and development.

•The ideal candidate will have a background in airborne ISR Sensor requirements development, design, or field engineering.

• Extensive experience with DoD modifications, and specific to radar and/or processors.

•US Citizenship and a current TS with SCI eligibility.

Highly Desired
•Familiarity with the U2 Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System (ASARS-2)
•Previous experience in U2 platform/sensors
•Familiarity with the Common Open Architecture Radar Programs specification (COARPs)
