Alion’s expertise in wireless communication is unrivaled.  This includes 50+ years of experience performing complex RF Engineering analysis for DoD customers, civilian government agencies, and commercial companies worldwide.  Our expertise in collecting, analyzing, and formatting spectrum data, including RF measurement, frequency assignment, spectrum certification, LiDAR, and other geo-referenced data, enables us to produce refined RF modeling and simulation tools and applications with the reliability and precision needed to assure spectrum access and control.  Alion’s analysis-driven tools support diverse tasks such as spectrum forensics and deconfliction, testing for coverage amid urban clutter, and antenna site planning.  Alion’s Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Spectrum Engineering Operations (RESEO) offers a variety of work, from projects supporting international satellite coordination to countering IEDs.  Our work is increasingly important in a world that depends on well-coordinated, interference-free spectrum access.


Leads the planning, designing, and production of a variety of complex electric or electronic components, apparatus and/or circuitry for use in radar systems.

Lead a team of contractors in the research and development of new and advance radar systems, facilitating new ideas and bring them to a conceptual stage.

Applies advanced technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to support multiple radar project teams in the development of new systems.

Performs complex engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of program level system development, engineering analysis and research.

Displays an advanced understanding and innovative use of concepts and principles in performing assignments.

Exercises independent judgment in conducting complex analyses and development efforts and provides technical direction to other staff.

Educates and advises more junior technical staff members in the technical aspects of their efforts. 


Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics or a related discipline with 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Experience with the design of radar systems and electronic subsystems.

Familiarity with multi-phase array and Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) targeting systems.

Experience with foliage penetration radars, long and short-range surveillance radars, and direction-finding radars.

Familiarity with DoD radar systems in particular Army systems. 

Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.

Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.

Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

US Citizenship is required
