Responsibilities/Qualification

Alion Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a Remote Sensing Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to a major DoD Agency located in Albuquerque, NM at Kirtland AFB for operational test events. Some travel (10%) to the White Sands Missile Range, NM and the Nevada National Security Site, NV as well as to the National Capital Region (Northern Virginia) will be required.

Roles:


•         Provide geotechnical/geophysical support in the form of pre and post- test geotechnical and photogrammetric characterization for a significant portion of all full scale weapons effects.


•         Review on-site remote sensing techniques to the characterization of structural damage/deformation caused by explosive loading.


•         Provide review of technical activities including data collection, analysis, and reporting.


•         Develop test plans and methodologies to meet measurement objectives to support DTRA testing and provide post-test assessments to determine diagnostics and system performance, and how well diagnostics met test objectives.

Qualifications:


•         Knowledge of geophysical technologies applies to geological, geotechnical, geo-environmental and structural application areas.


•         Elastic and inelastic geophysical modeling and simulation.


•         Weapons effects modeling and calculations on targeted structures (above and below ground) and understanding of the mathematics of structural design, dynamics, and deformation under loading.


•         Modeling/geophysical imaging of the subsurface between and below boreholes and for determining the in situ bulk properties of soil and rock.


•         Skills in data collection, recording, and analysis.


•         Experience writing Test Execution Plans (TEP) and reporting on test weapon performance analysis.


•         Photogrammetric characterization of all full scale weapons effects testing.


•         Education: Master’s degree in civil engineering, geophysics, and/or mathematics or related physical science fields of study.


•         Years’ Experience: 4-8 years’ geophysics modeling and simulation and field testing.


•         Security Clearance: Minimum active Secret with ability to obtain TS and SCI.


•         US Citizenship.

  • MS Office proficiency and ability to work in an individual and team environment.

•         Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and/or Nuclear domain knowledge.


•         Improved Explosive Devices.


•         Unmanned Systems.
