Job Description

Alion’s expertise in wireless communication is unrivaled.  This includes 50+ years’ of experience performing complex RF Engineering analysis for DoD customers, civilian government agencies, and commercial companies worldwide.  Our expertise in collecting, analyzing, and formatting spectrum data, including RF measurement, frequency assignment, spectrum certification, LiDAR, and other geo-referenced data, enables us to produce refined RF modeling and simulation tools and applications with the reliability and precision needed to assure spectrum access and control.  Alion’s analysis-driven tools support diverse tasks such as spectrum forensics and deconfliction, testing for coverage amid urban clutter, and antenna site planning.  Alion's Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Spectrum Engineering Directorate (RESED) offers a variety of work, from projects supporting international satellite coordination to countering IEDs.  Our work is increasingly important in a world that depends on well-coordinated, interference-free spectrum access.

The position is for college students who are rising seniors in their academic program.

Position Summary 

A temporary position within Alion which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training and gathering experience related to a student's educational discipline and which is applicable to the business needs of the company. 

Duties and Responsibilities        

 Duties will vary according to the particular field of the internship and may include the following: 

In support of assigned functional area, performs professional administrative, trade or occupational work of an introductory nature gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility. 

Performs routine administrative, trade or occupational work in support of the assigned functional area. 

Performs basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing and answering phones. 

Assists in arranging meetings, conferences, and project team activities. 

Performs basic word processing assignments and data entry using database applications. 

Prepares routine reports and creates various documents and electronic information with direction. 

Creates graphs and charts for various projects using spreadsheet and graphics software with direction.  

Assists in answering questions and/or refers inquiry to appropriate person. 

May be required to help with research in a particular field for projects and other objectives. 

May support staff in assigned project based work and/or manage administrative, trade or occupational projects.  

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Education and Experience 

Must have a high school diploma or GED. 

Must currently be enrolled as a student in an accredited public or private college or university and be participating in an RF Engineering and/or Computer Science course of study. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

Experience with basic office tasks and software including Microsoft Office. 

Excellent administrative, organization and communication skills. 

Good analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Must be diligent, hardworking and able to work in a professional office environment. 

Desires to gain professional experience and eagerness to learn.
