Position Summary
Alion Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a Safety and Occupational Health Manager to provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to a major DoD Agency located in Albuquerque, NM at Kirtland AFB for operational test events. No travel is required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the customer’s Occupational Safety and Health Managers in developing health and safety plans and programs affecting construction and testing activities.
- Participate in test and construction planning meetings, annual and periodic safety inspections.
- Manage an underground safety program, perform underground safety training, work in and manage permit required confined spaces as a supervisor, entrant, and or rescue.
- Enter permit required confined spaces and don up to Level A personal protective equipment.
- Serve as a test team Safety Officer and be able to coordinate and communicate with other test team members.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and sponsors.
- Performs hazard analysis and risk assessment tasks.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical science or a related scientific discipline, plus 2 to 4 years relevant work experience in a large test and evaluation (T&E) environment is desired.
- A High School degree and at least 7 years’ related experience is acceptable as an alternative.
- US Citizenship is required: Must have active/current Secret (S) with ability to obtain TS/SCI. Active/current Top Secret (TS) with ability to obtain TS/SCI desired.
- Required Training (must already be completed):
HAZWOPER training
OSHA 511, 510, 7415 and 7405 training
- Must maintain certification for First Aid, CPR and AED
- Possess working knowledge with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulatory requirements.
- Possess experience with respiratory program management including quantitative fit testing using a Port-a Count, personal protective equipment management including self-contained breathing apparatus and portable air monitoring equipment (i.e., four gas meter, etc.).
- Possess experience performing risk assessments, hazard analysis, hazard mitigation, hazardous materials program management and awareness
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- MS Office proficiency and ability to work in an individual and team environment.
- Experience in instrumenting Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and/or High Explosives test events is desired.
