Responsibilities/Qualification

  MacAulay-Brown, Inc. an Alion Company is looking for a Senior Avionics Engineer to support the Tanker - KC-46 Program Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.  The candidate must be knowledgeable of avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, all verification methods to include review of ICDs, sustainment, modeling/simulation, test and evaluation, and airworthiness certification across a wide range of hardware and software systems.
  • Support Aircraft Information Management Systems (AIMS) requirements/ testing/ certification and spectrum management requirements/ testing/ certification. The Contractor shall use knowledge of Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) requirements, policies, and regulations to define requirements, complete CNS/ATM compliance matrices, and support testing and certification of aircraft and supporting systems.

  • Review/develop/ update applicable program documentation for avionics engineering relevant requirements.  Support and assist systems analyses to include, but not be limited to, avionics system design/design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment. 

  • Assist the customer in developing systems/subsystem specifications.  Provide draft documentation defining system/subsystem specifications.  Be able to perform analyses of avionics and subsystems including, but not limited to: system threat analysis, laser systems, computer systems, avionics interfaces, and multiplex bus communications, and identify potential issues and/or areas of improvement for Government consideration.

  • Responsible for development and test of the program system hardware and software and its integration into the program system architecture.

  • Attend all technical reviews and provide technical advice on the path forward to installation of the new hardware and software into the system. 

  • Support and assist performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and scheduling trade-off studies. 

  • Review system specific test plans and participate in system, subsystem, and component testing. 

  • Review and perform assessments on program specific databases; analyze Built in Test (BIT) failure reports and compare failure reports against the BIT.

  • Evaluate systems test plans and participate in the conduct of system, subsystem and component level testing

  • Support translating user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystem and equipment for eventual fielding and deployment

  • Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assists in developing system concepts and perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications.  Assist with developmental planning support in evaluation of the military mission to be accomplished and any related requirements documentation
  • Review and analyze proposals, including regulatory and other policy driver changes or proposed modifications for design feasibility and system compatibility.  Support and conduct systems analyses to include system design/design feasibility and state-of- the-art assessment
  • Assist Contracting by performing technical evaluations of contractor proposal submissions prior to placing Engineering Changes on contract
  • As required, assist, review, and provide recommendations for AFIs and other policy documents.  Support Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities to redesign, fabricate, and test obsolete components for long-term program risk reduction
  • 10 years of experience in performing relevant operational functions with extensive knowledge and experience in schedule and performance/technical aspects of current, future, and interrelated programs. 
  • 10 years of management and supervisory experience in a DoD or private industry with 10 years of management and supervisory Acquisition experience in leadership management of complex DoD Acquisition Programs, or equivalent experience
  • Additional 10 years of experience can be substituted with Master's Degree
  • Additional 20 years of experience can be substituted with Bachelor's Degree 

Education:

  • Master¿s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution in a related discipline 
  • A Bachelor's degree in aforementioned degrees from an accredited institution
