Job Description


Seeking an independent, self-starter to provide Configuration/Data Management support for the newly established FFG(X) Frigate Program at Naval Sea Systems Command.  Responsible for developing and implementing critical program processes for handling engineering changes/baseline requirements, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, and design data that specifies and details complex engineering requirements. Implements configuration best practices in accordance with government and industry standards in response to contractual requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as primary interface with and support to the Government Lead in managing critical contractor data documentation. 

Assists the customer in establishing complex configuration and data management processes to meet program requirements.

Analyze processes and procedures and provide detail recommendations to improve the efficiency and functionality as well as determine a viable execution plan. Assist the Program Office and the shipbuilders in implementing procedures in accordance with the applicable CM/DM Management Plans. 

Participates in the development and maintenance of Databases/IDEs with the Government and IT authorities to ensure full accountability of data documentation as change documentation is developed and approved, as well as for shipbuilder CDRL deliverables that must comply with contract requirements.

Supports the Government in execution of meetings that include Change Boards involving multiple stakeholders including shipbuilder(s), Ship Design, and technical authorities.  Prepares Agendas and Meeting Minutes.

Processes a variety of configuration change documents and records information to manage configuration items effectively, including the status of proposed, implemented and approved changes.

Develops quality/timeliness performance metrics and performs additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced MS EXCEL skills and experience in developing process workflows are essential. 

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite required with emphasis on MS Access.

Prior work experience in Process Development, Data Deliverables/CDRLs, Change Management/Control, Logistics are key areas being sought.

Ideal candidate will be detail oriented, a self-starter, able to complete assigned tasks with accuracy and on time, and have strong organizational and personnel skills. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential to this position.

A Secret Security Clearance is required or the candidate must have an ability to obtain one.

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4-6 years of directly related experience in government/consulting environment is preferred.

Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
