Position Summary

Leads and is responsible for configuration management (CM) and data management (DM) of documents, hardware and software baselines, and data for the Army's Synthetic Environment (SE) Core program. Implements CM/DM practices in accordance with government and industry standards in response to contractual requirements. The SE Core program provides the common infrastructure definition and the SE artifacts necessary to enable simulations to participate in the Live, Virtual and Constructive Integrated Training Environment (LVC ITE).

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains CM processes and tools to establish and maintain consistency between program requirements, configuration information, and all relevant information about the program.

Defines the performance, functional, and physical attributes in configuration documentation.

Archives the defined attributes in the baseline in an integrated database and verifies the systems and their information for consistency.

Identifies and evaluates the impact of all proposed changes through the configuration change management process, including the verification that the Systems and all associated component information have been updated and continue to be consistent.

Ensures all major database components, and each deliverable format at each generation milestone are configuration managed and each delivered product is catalogued quarterly.

Performs configuration management planning and management to include establishing and documenting a software configuration management process.

Plans and implements CM functions for the context and environment in which they are to be performed and manages in accordance with the planning.

Develops and recommends the specific CM value-adding functions and levels of emphasis.

Assesses the effectiveness of CM plan implementation and performance of the configuration management functions with performance measurements. Flow down responsibility for CM performance to subcontractors.

Performs configuration identification - identify unique identifiers for selected system attributes, system information and components to be used as the basis for configuration management.

Monitors and supports configuration change management processes for managing artifact and product configuration changes and variances.

Performs configuration status accounting within the integrated development environment (IDE) of system configuration information including pending, current and historical data.

Systematically records, safeguards, validates, and disseminates system information as directed. Captures configuration information as it evolves.

Maintains a software configuration management database in accordance with the software development process plan. A schema shall be maintained for identification of software items and their versions

Participates in design reviews, audits, schedules, budgets and maintains relevant documentation.

Identifies complex requirements and coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of configuration management systems.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 5 to 7 years of directly related experience.

Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Excellent analytical skills.

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Must be US citizen; no dual citizenship allowed.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a clearance; an active SECRET security clearance is preferred.
