Job Description

Alion Science and Technology has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Cost Analyst located in the Dayton, OH area.  The Senior Cost Analyst will support the customer Program Manager (PM) during program execution by providing subject matter expertise needed to ensure that everything in the program is managed effectively to ensure a successful outcome.  The Senior Cost Analyst will provide support to the PM in program management reviews and other technical reviews and assist in creating briefings, information papers, or reports as necessary.  This position will support the Fighters & Advanced Aircraft Directorate and Bombers Directorate at WPAFB.  These Directorates are responsible for the requirements analysis, strategic planning, design, development, integration, test, production, deployment, sustainment, and modernization activities necessary to achieve U.S. and FMS aircraft weapon system and subsystem requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, defines, and coordinates development of program plan requirements and performs in-depth studies to determine optimum program plans
  • Leads large, critical tasks/program efforts, including detailed analyses and assessments of complex program data to support program execution within existing client procedure and government regulations
  • Interfaces with client's senior management, responding to requests for analytical support and recommendations based on subject matter expertise
  • Applies analysis tools and techniques such as modeling and simulation to define and resolve the most complex issues
  • Prepares special reports and financial studies for clients and alerts them to significant variances to plan
  • Develops and conducts presentations on program execution, cost, and performance data
  • Reviews and assess the work of other program analysts to ensure accuracy and compliance with government policies, regulation and procedures
  • Generates task documents including statement of work, white papers, risk assessments, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL), monthly status reports and other project execution documentation
  • Monitors task activities and financial data
  • Provides technical input for proposals.


  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in DoD business cost analysis and cost policy
  • Ability to write clear reports
  • Ability to interface with team members, technical leads and Project Managers
  • Ability to work alone on individual projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Good verbal (English) communication skills
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an Active DoD Secret clearance

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with DoD in cost estimating methodologies, cost analysis techniques, and maintenance Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • DAWIA Level III in Financial Management


  • Ability to travel periodically (~10%) for program reviews and/or site visits, to customer and contractor locations as directed/required.
