EXPERIENCE WITH EXPLOSIVES SAFETY IS AN ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT FOR THIS POSITION.

The ideal candidate has, in addition to the required explosives safety requirement, industrial safety experience, preferably with a C-12 certification or C-12 certification track work. A working knowledge of regulations (OSHA, NFPA, NEC, etc.). Army Safety Regulation familiarity preferred, as well as OSHA 30 hour trailer certification.

Job Duties:

• This position provides Safety Specialist support to the U.S. Army's Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) with locations in Warren, MI, and at Selfridge Air National Guard (SANG) Base in Harrison Township, MI.
• In addition to the safety hazards found in traditional industrial environments, some GVSC laboratory and field testing present laser, x-ray, and explosives safety hazards.
• GVSC has numerous laboratories testing multiple facets of military ground vehicles, and the GVSC Safety Office provides safety oversight over them, as well as field tests conducted at sites such as Camp Grayling, MI.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, environmental or industrial hygiene discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience. Master’s degree preferred.
• In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
• The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a SECRET clearance.
