Job Description



Alion is seeking an experienced government financial analyst to provide budgetary and funding support for the Navy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for various financial functions such as budgeting, auditing, forecasting and analysis.
  • Collects and reviews financial data from various sources.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates financial databases and spreadsheets, and generates various financial reports as required. Maintains appropriate records and documentation.
  • Performs financial analysis of client’s projected staff hours, contract totals, revenues, and profit totals.
  • Produces financial models and financial statements, applies forecasting techniques, and evaluates performance against budget submissions.
  • Makes recommendations to improve the financial performance of the client.
  • Identifies and resolves complex problems as well as to prevent future problems.
  • Communicates timely and accurate program status updates to all clients as required.
  • Ensures compliance with federal regulations and agency or client specific policies. 
  • Provides guidance to less experienced Financial Analysts.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus at least 5 years of directly related experience or a Master’s degree and three years of experience preferably in a government contracting environment.
  • Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.


  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with the following systems and programs:
    • Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
    • Programming Budgeting Information System (PBIS)
    • The Programming, Planning, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process
  • Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of government contracts
  • Experience executing funding documents and conducting budgetary reviews of allocated funds


  • Prior experience working on DOD Staff or military budgetary experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial, and forecasting concepts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DAR, FAR, and other relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • An active ERP account is highly desired.
