Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

The Senior Network Engineer plans, designs, develops, and implements network engineering plans and wide-scale networks for cyber ranges, training events, other special purpose, and operational networks. Assists with the creation and/or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments after new network architecture configurations are implemented. Provides operations, maintenance and teardown/reconfiguration of networks to support events.

Experience working with coalition networks in the Pacific for DoD is highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

Performs a variety of engineering studies and analysis and recommends hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions.

Debugs and tests networks and assists in performing needs assessments by studying network traffic.

Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Evaluates new hardware and software for networks to determine which products best meet organization/customer needs.

Participates in the initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provide resolution for system issues.

Prepares cost/benefit estimates for network design, development, and implementation.

Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.

Routinely interfaces with customers and other stake holders in the accomplishment of these tasks to ensure requirements are adequately defined and

Participates in special projects as required.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position will require travel in the USINDOPACOM AOR up to 40%.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience. Professional certification(s) may be required.

A Technical Level II (IAT Level II) certification (e.g., Security+, GISCP, GSEC, SSCP, CySA+ (formerly CSA+), or Security+ SE) is required.

A Technical Level III (IAT Level III) (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH) is desired.

Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data

Cleared for TS Information and eligible for access to SCI by the Central Clearance Facility (CCF) based on a single scope background investigation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Familiar with the principles, methods, and techniques used in network design and development.

Familiar with modems, data scopes, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and network management software.

Knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications.

Knowledge of cyber range and other training/testing/evaluation/experimentation networks and software applications.

May require certification in one or more specific applications (such as MCSE, MCSA, CNE, CNA), depending on job assignment.
