Position Summary:

This position is a senior level/technical position.  Alion is seeking a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated program/technical analyst to support our security risk analysis software, CounterMeasures, and its Department of Defense variants, Enterprise Protection Risk Management (EPRM) and Army Security Management System – CounterMeasures (SMS-CM).  Position is based in Alexandria, VA.  Some work-from-home will be considered, but on-site presence is required in the DC area.  Limited domestic and international travel may also be required.

The applicant must embrace change management and be a continuous learner, as customer requirements are diverse.  Being flexible to the demands of the customer is very important.  The applicant will require strong analytical skills and must be a self-starter with great initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision.  Work requires analyst to be a team-player who works well with others.

The analyst will receive multi-faceted analytical assignments requiring the methodic research and synthesis of results in order to fit new security assessment and analysis processes into our current software.  Duties will be under the general direction of the project and program manager and within the scope of the work derived from a contract with a government customer.


  • The analyst will perform a wide range of tasks to support the risk assessment and management team, including:
  • Creating and/or maintaining of datasets that include security laws, rules, policies and best practices
  • Researching and assisting customers in writing policy and procedures for the deployment and operations of the risk analysis tools.
  • Supporting current customers, building relationships with new customers, and aiding in the creation of new risk assessment modules 
  • Supporting the data team lead project plans, research papers, presentations, monthly reports, etc.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to project managers within the program in the development of design concepts, storyboards, assessment datasets, etc.
  • Providing quality reviews of administrative deliverables
  • Assisting in business development for federal and commercial customers
  • Participating in security risk assessments and assessment software training for clients
  •  Conducting briefings, software demonstrations, and technical meetings for customers and potential customers
  • Interfacing with customers to coordinate meetings and events, provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge to user support, and perform general administrative tasks
  • Developing solutions for customer requirements in collaboration with the software development team
  • Scheduling and moderating working group meetings and documenting meeting discussions in after action reports
  • Creating new and updating existing risk assessment modules to address new regulations/policies and working group input
  • Conducting research in diverse security-related areas to understand customer’s daily operations and requirements
  • Serving as internal security SME
  • Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Occasional travel (approximately 10 percent) for training and customer meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience in security risk analysis
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities
  • Familiarity with software development processes
  • Must be US Citizen; no sponsorship available

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CounterMeasures Risk Analysis software or EPRM or SMS-CM
  • Security management experience within the Federal government, DoD preferred
  • Familiarity with agile software development process
  • Familiarity with Interagency Security Committee standards

  • Must have a secret clearance and be eligible and willing to submit for a top secret clearance
