Position Summary

USINDOPACOM’s rapid warfighting capabilities mission requires a Senior Software Design Engineer to serve as general application support for all technical aspects and development of innovative solutions and emerging technologies to address Command Priorities across all Lines of Operation. Requirements range across major geographic locations requiring coordination of technology and/or production across multiple domestic and/or worldwide locations. USINDOPACOM is responsible for the oversight and management of over 75% of the earth from polar region to polar region inclusive of eastern Asia and the Pacific Islands. The customer desires new, innovative, advanced technologies and applications that will require advanced testing techniques that will accurately replicate real-world use and environments.

Performs analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of complex software application programs in support of distinct product hardware and software across the USINDOPACOM areas of responsibility.

Individual works directly for the Program Manager.  Candidate is expected to serve as lead trainer for our SharePoint 16 based Alion proprietary tool. After receiving training on the tool; individual will be expected to train customers at the user level.  At minimum, a journeyman experience level for SharePoint design is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Defines specifications for complex software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.

Performs all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.

Develops architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.

Participates in the analysis and development of test plans. Tests assigned components and units, provides test results and recommends corrections.

Identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues or other technical problems.

Researches and develops prospective applications and products and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.

Authors or assists in the writing and/or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.

Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.

Provides guidance to less experienced software developers/architects.

Operates in multinational, interagency, joint, and service unique environments.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience.

Microsoft SharePoint Designer Certification (MCSD: App Builder, with emphasis on SharePoint Preferred, but not required if at least 3 years’ experience working SharePoint supporting users as a SP “Site Owner”.)

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by 
market survey data.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate software concepts effectively.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development.

Experience with software development tools and programming languages.

Must be willing and able to travel CONUS and OCONUS in support of the program.

A TS/SCI security clearance is required for employment.
