Job Description


The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) in software or computer engineering fields or computer science with course work related to software engineering. The ideal candidate will have had course work or other formal training related to software process / product compliance and release management. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience with at least one of those years performing Software Quality Assurance (SQA). Experience with Linux and/or QNX required, other embedded OS experience strongly desired - preferably command line and not just GUI desktop usage, as well as experience with software industry best practices such as CMMI3.

Produces and collects evidence that forms the basis for giving a justified statement of confidence that the software product conforms to its established requirements. Manages the SQA framework that provides guidance at an organizational level and processes that provide guidance at the project level. Projects can involve developing software, acquiring software, supporting software, or combinations of all three. Ensures that processes are established, maintained, and applied on projects by skilled and qualified staff and that the activities and tasks are commensurate with product risk. Manages SQA process implementation, product assurance, and process assurance.

Determines the degree to which the software products and related documentation conform to established requirements.

Prior to delivery, determines the degree of confidence the organization has that the established requirements are satisfied and that the software products and related documentation will be acceptable to the customer.

Collects measurement data sufficient to support these satisfaction and acceptability decisions.

Owns and executes product acceptance criteria.

Determines whether the product support requirements identified in the project plans are consistent with the contract and clearly identify the responsibilities of both the organization and the customer.

Determines whether product measurements demonstrate the quality of the products and conform to standards and procedures established by the project.

Notifies appropriate staff of findings at the conclusion of audits and inspections.

Makes recommendations to management to correct any deficiencies uncovered.

Follows up on all audits and inspections to ensure that corrective actions have been implemented. Reports to management on actions taken.

Coordinates the maintenance of the quality assurance archives and filing system.

Makes recommendations to management to automate the quality assurance records system.

Stays abreast of new developments in government requirements and recommends changes to management in policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Prepares and assists others in the development of reports, briefings, studies, or other information to management.

Provides guidance to less experienced Quality Assurance Auditors.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and common programming languages.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in quality assurance.

The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a SECRET clearance.
