Sr. Systems Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) System Administrator is responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation, support, tuning, and performance for central server architecture components and operating systems (web servers, application servers, database servers, update servers, etc.) to support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts for AFRL.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The System Administrator will work in cooperation with Engineering and Operations divisions to assess the current architecture and evolve future enterprise computing requirements as it pertains to Assessment and Authorization efforts. While keeping abreast of current enterprise computing disciplines, this position will work with technology solutions providers, evaluate effective solutions and make operational recommendations to AFRL management.  Additional duties include authoring standard operating procedures and policy supporting A&A efforts.  Individual must work well independently as well as have strong team oriented skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Motivated self-starter                                                                      
  • Experience in systems administration
  • Experience with Windows Servers 2008/2012/2016, Windows desktop operating systems Windows 7 & 10
  • Experience with Linux Operating systems (RHEL, CentOS)
  • Experience with Virtualization
  • Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration
  • Experience interfacing with senior management
  • Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs)
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and digest technical information
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems
  • Ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document creative solutions
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience installing release upgrades
  • Security + and Linux+ or Microsoft certification

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with SCCM
  • Experience with ACAS/HBSS
  • Experience with Tanium/Splunk

DESIRED CERTS

  • CCNA
  • CISSP
  • MCSE

SECURITY

Must Currently Hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance; Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility desired
