Job Description

The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) IT Engineer is responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation, support, tuning, and performance for various IT systems and components (web servers, application servers, database servers, update servers, etc.) to support the development, testing, and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications and services for the NCTE.

Duties and Responsibilities

The IT Engineer will work in cooperation with the IT Services division to develop, secure, update, monitor and maintain Microsoft Windows and VMware virtualization technologies used throughout the enterprise.  Additional duties include performing Microsoft Windows server administration, manage GPOs, create/modify DHCP reservations, patching and STIG’ing, as well as authoring standard operating procedures.  Individual must be able to work independently as work within a team.

Education and Experience

• 7 years experience in systems administration and engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience

• Security + and Linux+ or Microsoft certification
• Experience in systems administration
• Experience with Windows Servers 2008/2012 and Windows 10

• Experience with SolarWinds

• Experience with CISCO technologies such as ISE and VPN (AnyConnect)

• Experience with Linux Operating systems, especially Red Hat
• Experience with Virtualization technologies, specifically VMware
• Experience with Dell EqualLogic or Compellent storage devices
• Familiar with basic networking concepts
• Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration
• Experience interfacing with senior management
• Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines(STIG)
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and digest technical information
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems
• Ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document creative solutions
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

Must Currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance
